CAVDAS provides free, confidential support for anyone in Cardiff and the Vale who is concerned about their own or someone else’s drug or alcohol use.
We offer a full range of services, including harm‑reduction advice, information for families and friends, treatment options, recovery support and peer‑led groups. People of all ages can contact us directly or be referred by a professional.
CAVDAS also works closely with schools, colleges, universities and employers to deliver training, education and specialist support that strengthens wellbeing across our communities.

Once we receive a referral, or someone contacts us directly, the first step is to understand their circumstances.
This helps us ensure the right level of support and tailor an appropriate treatment pathway. Depending on the situation, this will involve either:
These conversations are supportive and non-judgemental. They are not about forcing change, but about understanding what support might be helpful.
People may want to make a small or a big change or may simply want advice or harm reduction support. Our highly trained staff will help explore options and next steps.
Referrals for clinical support, including prescribing (Tier 3) and rehab (Tier 4) services, can continue to be made via CAVDAS. Following assessment, individuals will be directed to the most appropriate pathway to ensure timely and effective support.
