Cwm Taf Morgannwg Barod

Cwm Taf Morgannwg Barod is part of an integrated substance use service supporting adults, young people and families affected by drug or alcohol use, whether this relates to their own use or someone else’s. We also work closely with local partners to help people access the right support for their needs.

We offer confidential advice, information, assessment, harm reduction, treatment and recovery support. We can also refer or signpost people to other local services. Support is available from our fixed bases and in community venues.

Advice, information and brief interventions
Education programmes, awareness campaigns, information stands, training and workforce development
Screening and assessment, including blood borne virus screening where appropriate
Needle exchange, naloxone and Nyxoid provision
1:1 Treatment and support, including psychosocial interventions, co-occurring casework, pre and post detox support and referral for residential rehabilitation where appropriate
Sustained recovery support, including relapse prevention, peer support, self-help, service user involvement, co-production, diversionary activities and volunteer or peer opportunities
Children, Young person and Transition services (CYPT)

DASPA (Drug and Alcohol Single Point of Access) is the single point of contact for referrals into substance use services across the area. Professional referrals can be made via https://daspa.org.uk/.

Calls can be made to DASPA directly on 0300 333 0000 for information, advice and referrals.

After a referral is received, DASPA will review the information and identify the most appropriate support. This may include advice, assessment, brief support, treatment and recovery support, signposting, or referral to specialist services.

If the referral is passed to Barod, the person will be allocated a caseworker within two working days. The caseworker will contact them to arrange an assessment, discuss their needs and priorities, and agree treatment goals together.

People can access clinical services, including Tier 3 and Tier 4 services, through DASPA. Following contact or referral, screening and assessment will identify the most appropriate pathway, which may include specialist treatment and support, pre and post detox support, or referral for residential rehabilitation where appropriate.
