Welsh Overdose Awareness Day 2021
The 13th December marks Welsh Overdose Awareness Day, a time and opportunity to raise the important issues relating to drug-related overdoses and to reduce the risks of people experiencing such incidents. In 2020, 224 people lost their lives due to drug poisoning in Wales. Many more experienced an overdose, whether it be from heroin, benzodiazepines, alcohol or cocaine use, to name just a few. By knowing the signs of different forms of overdoses and how to effectively respond, can be the difference between life and death for the person experiencing such an event.
This years theme for Welsh Overdose Awareness Day is ‘I am Someone‘. You may be someone who has experienced an overdose, or you may be someone who has responded to an overdose, but most importantly, you are someone and therefore, you matter.
